HORIZON EUROPE project CEE2ACT “Empowering the Central and Eastern European Countries to Develop Bioeconomy Strategies and Action Plans” corresponded to the HORIZON-CL6-2021- GOVERNANCE-01 call “Raising awareness of circular and sustainable bioeconomy in support of Member States to develop bioeconomy strategies and/or action plans” The objective of CEE2ACT is to empower more than ten (10) beneficiary countries in Central Eastern Europe and beyond to develop bioeconomy strategies and action plans, through knowledge transfer and innovative governance models enabling sustainability and resilience, to achieve better informed decision-making processes, societal engagement, and innovation.
Serbia still does not have a bioeconomy strategy and action plans but has a package of documents related to the bioeconomy in various sectors, which directly or indirectly deal with the concept of the bioeconomy. That is why the CEE2ACT project can be extremely important for Serbia. Based on the obtained results (tools) and guidelines, it can enable the implementation of this concept, as one of the seven key ways to achieve climate neutrality, identified in the European Clean Planet Strategy. Also, the Project can help Serbia join Europe on its way to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050 within the framework of the European Green Deal.
